Second Chakra: Tuning Up the Reproductive System
The reproductive system becomes active almost at the moment of conception. It promotes growth and development of the organs that determine gender and fertility. Normal as this process might seem, it is adversely affected by countless chemicals in our environment, including xenoestrogens and hormone disruptors. It is therefore not a foregone conclusion that Nature will protect us. In addition to the genetic and chemical factors, there are many social influences that determine how we feel about gender and gender differences, how we feel about sex and sexual expression, how we feel about muscles, curves, padding, and pheromones. Up to a point, some issues can be corrected even decades after birth, and most people can also overcome issues of stubborn sterility. Most important of all, we need to appreciate that the energies we need for growing when young can be used to procreation later and for personal regeneration in the sunset years.
